New Prague High School Activities

The 2014-2015 school year will mark Shellie's 9th year as the Adapted Floor Hockey Coach and her 11th year as the Adapted Softball Coach at New Prague High School.  Shellie is a native of Lark Park, MN in northwest Minnesota and graduated from Lake Park High School (currently Lake Park Audubon High School).  Kriha earned her BS degree from Minnesota State University - Bemidji in Elementary Education along with a coaching licensure.  She then received her certifications in Specific Learning Disabilities and Emotional Behavioral Disabilities from Minnesota State University - Mankato.  She also received an MS degree from the College of St. Scholastica in Curriculum and Instruction.

Kriha taught children with special needs at the Minnesota River Valley Special Education Cooperative from 1988-1993.  In 1994, she took over at New Prague Middle School as a Special Education Teacher.  She has also coached 7th/8th grade softball at the middle school level.

Kriha and her husband, Steve, reside in New Prague and have three sons:  Ryan - 26; Brett - 23; and Seth - 19.

Coach Kalal will be entering his second year with the adaptive floor hockey program as the assistant coach.  Kalal has coached girls soccer in New Prague for the past 9 years and has coached middle school baseball in past years for New Prague.  Coach Kalal was born and raised in Jordan Minnesota and went on to attend college at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  He has been teaching at the middle school in New Prague for the last 10 years.  Coach Kalal and his wife Angela, who teaches 4th grade in Belle Plaine, live in Belle Plaine with their two children, Cooper (3 ½) and Izzy (2) and are expecting their third child in February.
