Mr. Mark Diischer, Director of Bands

Mark Diischer is the Director of Bands at New Prague High School. In this position, Mr. Diischer conducts the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic, and Crimson Concert Band ensembles, leads the Jazz Band programs, and also is the Head of the Trojan Marching Band. 

Before coming to New Prague, Mr. Diischer served as the Director of Bands at Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, serving as the Director of Concert Bands, Director of the Warrior Marching Band, and the leader of the Jazz Ensembles. 

Before serving in Sioux Falls, Mr. Diischer led the Band Department in Pipestone, Minnesota, including 5-12 Grade Concert Ensembles, the award-winning Arrow Marching Band, and the Jazz Bands. 

Mr. Diischer earned his Master's of Music in Conducting from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. In his posting there, Mr. Diischer served as an Assistant Director of the "Maverick" Marching Band, the Head Director of the "Mav Horns" NCAA Pep Band, and assisted in teaching concert bands, Jazz ensembles, percussion, and musical classes. 

Before his graduate studies in Omaha, Mr. Diischer earned degrees in Instrumental and Vocal Music Education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota.  

Mr. Diischer is an active performer, adjudictor, clinician, composer, and arranger. As a performer in Percussion and as a vocalist, Mr. Diischer has performed with the Omaha Symphony, South Dakota Symphony, the Dakota Valley Symphony, the Dakota Jazz Ensemble, and many others. 

Mr. Diischer regularly arranges professional music for Marching Bands throughout the Upper Midwest. As a composer, Mr. Diischer earned the 2nd Place award for The "Iron Composer" Music Competition in it's inaugural year.

Mark is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Percussion Arts Society (PAS) the Minnesota Band Director's Association, the Kappa Kappa Psi Music Fraternity, and has been a member of the Nebraska Bandmaster's Association, the South Dakota Bandmaster's Association,  and the American Choral Director's Association.
