Doug Amundsen

The 2014-2015 Season will be the 21st season that Doug Amundsen will be coaching the Trojan Gymnastics team.  Doug had served as an assistant coach for 18 years and became the interim head coach in December - 2012 and guided the girls to the 2013 Class A MSHSL Championship.  At the conclusion of the season, Coach Amundsen was named the full-time Head Coach of the Trojans.

Doug is a 1984 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria, MN and earned a B.S. in K-12 Physical Education and Coaching from Moorhead State University.  He has been a New Prague resident since 1990.  Doug and his wife, Mary, have two children - Molly and Connor.  Molly is a senior at the University of Minnesota and Connor is a freshman at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.


Nikki Smith

Asst. Coach - NPHS Gymnastics

The 2014-2015 season will mark Nikki Smith’s 5th season of coaching in New Prague. Nikki began her coaching career in 2000 during her time at Gleason’s Gymnastics, teaching recreational classes, assisting with the compulsory teams and leading birthday parties. She continued coaching recreational classes throughout her college career at SUNY Brockport and took on the coordinator position for the Jr. Eagles gymnastics program during that time.

In 2008 Nikki moved back home to Prior Lake and spent two years coaching diving and gymnastics for Lakeville and track for Prior Lake.  Nikki is a 2004 graduate of Prior Lake High School where she competed 6 seasons of diving, 2 seasons of gymnastics and 6 seasons of track and field.  She went on to earn a BS in Physical Education with concentrations in Athletic Training and teaching certification with coaching. She competed 4 years of gymnastics for the Brockport Golden Eagles, captaining 2 of them and earning 4 national championship appearances, 1 second-team All-America award on the floor exercise, an Academic All-America award and a Chancellor’s scholar athlete award. She currently resides in Richfield.


Ann Niedermayer

Asst. Coach - NPHS Gymnastics

Coach Ann Niedermayer is excited for her 2nd year as a Gymnastics coach for the Trojans.  Ann began coaching gymnastics in 2006 at Gleason's Gymnastics in Eagan coaching recreational classes and continued at Dynamics Gymnastics in Burnsville.  Ann began working with New Prague Gymnastics in 2010.  She competed in both gymnastics and diving growing up in Connecticut and North Carolina.  She also competed in collegiate diving for Syracuse University where she earned a BFA in photography and graphic design.  She also worked with the Junior Olympic diving team in Syracuse.  Recently, Ann earned her Nursing degreee from Rasmussen College in Mankato and is currently a licensed RN.

Ann moved to New Prague in 1994 with her husband, Ray.  She is a local photographer and has run a studio in New Prague since 1998.  Ray and Ann have 4 children.  Twins, Jessica and Jaimie, are now freshmen at Gustavus Adolphus College and are alumni gymnasts of the New Prague High School team.  Their third daughter, Liza, is a senior at New Prague High School, and son, Tucker, is an eighth grader at New Prague Middle School.
