Dan Wagner

Dan Wagner is entering his thirteenth season coaching the Trojans with this year being his third as head coach. Wagner wrestled for the Trojans in high school where he was a two time state entrant, placing third his senior year.  Following high school, Wagner furthered his education and wrestling career at SCSU.  After graduating from SCSU he returned to New Prague and was hired as an elementary physical education teacher.  He currently teaches at Falcon Ridge Elementary School in New Prague.  When not coaching at the high school, Wagner enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, helping with the youth teams, and volunteering as a member of the New Prague Fire Department.  He resides in New Prague with his wife Terrye and their four children; Audrey (10) Charlie (7) Jack (3) and Griffin (1).

Nick Schoenecker

Head Assistant Coach

Nick Schoenecker is a high school social studies teacher at NPHS and is in his 5th Year as a coach in the Trojan Wrestling Program.  Nick wrestled for the Trojans from 1999-2002 and was a 3 year varsity starter at 189lbs and at Heavyweight.  Nick was part of two Missota Conference Championship teams in 2000 and 2001.  He was named Missota All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2002.  After school Nick attended the University of Minnesota, Morris and later taught in International Falls.  Outside of wrestling he coaches football and baseball and also enjoys golfing.

Aaron Shetka

Assistant Coach & 9th Grade Coach

I'm very excited for my 3rd year with New Prague wrestling, and 2nd year up at the high school.  This is my 7th year teaching and 3rd year at NP.  My wife Danielle and I are from New Prague and are loving raising our one year old daughter in the town we grew up in.  I enjoyed wrestling when I was younger and I enjoy coaching young athletes even more.  We have a very talented and dedicated group of athletes and coaches, so I am very eager to once again be apart of the New Prague wrestling tradition.  

John Woodyard

Volunteer Assistant Coach

John Woodyard is entering his 11th season as a coach at the high school. The first 4 years were as a volunteer coach, then 3 years as the 9th Grade Coach, the last 4 as a volunteer coach again. Woodyard grew up in Denver, IA. After high school, he attended Waldorf College and the University of Northern Iowa before joining the US Army. After 5 years in the Army, he went back to school and completed his degree. Currently, he
works as a Maintenance Manager in Eagan, MN.  When not in the wrestling room he enjoys camping, yard work, spending time with family/friends and riding his motorcycle. He has been married to his wife Sonjia for 21
years and has 3 boys (Taylor, Maxwell, and Alexander).

Allan Huigens

Volunteer Assistant Coach

Coach Huigens has been coaching at New Prague for 8 years.  He has coached at both the middle and high school levels.  Huigens wrestled at New Prague from 1998 to 2002 where he currently sits in 6th place for most career wins in Trojan history. Huigens wrestled at Minnesota State Moorhead from 2002 to 2004. He currently lives in New Prague with his wife Joy and daughters Alayna (2) and Glory (5 mo.).  Coach Huigens owns and operates A&W Automotive and Repair in New Prague.  

Brian Doherty

Volunteer Assistant Coach

Brian Doherty is entering his third season with the New Prague Trojans Wrestling program, second at the high school level. Doherty attended the Le Center public school system, graduating in 2003, where he wrestled at all levels.  Coach Doherty rounded out his varsity career with four Minnesota River Valley All-Conference medals and was a State entrant in 2003. Doherty attended the University of Minnesota –Duluth, graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice, and is currently employed by the State of Minnesota. 

Coach Doherty's wife Danielle is a graduate of the New Prague school system and also Minnesota State – Mankato. Both are very excited to be raising their 1 year old son Aiden in the New Prague community, and equally excited to be a part of the New Prague Wrestling community. Outside of coaching he enjoys spending his extra time with family and friends.
